Meet Patrick McDonald

Founder of Waterrock Construction, specializing in custom homes and select commercial projects throughout Western North Carolina.

Patrick McDonald is the founder of Waterrock Construction and holds a degree in Construction Management from Appalachian State University. With more than 16 years of construction industry experience, he has worked with established commercial construction firms in Asheville, Atlanta, Chattanooga, Cleveland, and Nashville, developing a broad foundation in project management, technical construction, and field execution.

Patrick is a North Carolina Unlimited General Contractor and previously obtained his Tennessee General Contractor license in 2017, qualifying for commercial, residential, and industrial construction. His experience includes custom homes, commercial new construction, tenant improvements, multi-family projects, and construction management.

Today, Patrick focuses Waterrock Construction on custom residential and select commercial projects throughout Western North Carolina, providing hands-on leadership from preconstruction through project completion.

Patrick is known for setting clear expectations upfront, maintaining strong relationships with trade partners, and communicating consistently throughout every phase of construction. He remains actively involved on-site, maintaining quality, solving problems quickly, and keeping projects moving from preconstruction through completion.

In his spare time, he enjoys outdoor adventures, cooking, and spending time with his wife, two sons, and dog.

Waterrock Construction takes its name from Waterrock Knob, a landmark on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Western North Carolina. The name reflects our connection to the mountains and communities we serve, and our commitment to building with permanence, purpose, and a strong sense of place.
